Passion, Love & Happiness. I'm on a journey to capture these emotions from people who radiate their inner beauty and joy into my lens. I photograph because I adore weddings, a spontaneous lifestyle and meeting amazing individuals who will change my life. I hope that next unique someone is you.

I was asked the other day if Billy and I were high school sweethearts. We started dating a month before graduation so I’m not sure if that constitutes as official school romance, but let’s just say we’ve been together for quite a long time. In that 12 year span, he’s never grown a beard. So when his stubble started to appear, I told him I found it kinda sexy! It only took this simple phrase (and an average outside temperature of 15°) to inspire him to grow “the beard”.
It’s been a couple weeks and I wasn’t prepared for the excitement it’s caused within our circle of family and friends. Over a beard! People I haven’t seen for ages approach me to ask about my husband’s facial hair and ponder on its mystical occurrence. He’s often not even recognized and I have to laugh! In fact today a friend didn’t even acknowledge my presence because he was stunned by Billy’s appearance. Oh the power of a beard!
So it was decided tonight that “the beard” needed to be documented for historical purposes of course. I’m sure our children will find this image in their history books and wonder if they are truly related to this odd fellow. Speaking of odd, why do I always envision Yogi Bear when we smooch? I must be craving pic-a-nic baskets!
Sarah: (02.01.11 - 4:54 pm) He looks like such a Billy Badass... I think that name suits him, I just can't put my finger on why...
I’m pretty sure if Lucas was my son, I would hang him above the mantle and just stare at his adorableness for hours. What a precious baby! I totally enjoyed a fabulous joint session with Billy today but wondered why babies always gravitate towards him instead of me. Must be a man thing….or his beard. Maybe I should grow one?
Sarah: (02.01.11 - 4:52 pm) Ohhh how I love what I see!!!! He looks like such a little man!!!

Though I adore meeting new couples and making new friends, another fantastic opportunity of being a wedding photographer is the experience of photographing new locations. Such was the case when I arrived at the St.Ambrose Catholic Church in Rochester, NY for Sid and Carole’s wedding. The church was brightly lit thanks to large, colorful stained glass windows and provided a cheerful atmosphere, something I think meshed well with Sid and Carole’s personalities. The colors of the church also presented a fantastic background to capture the emotions present during the touching ceremony.
I found the family and guests of the bride and groom to be incredibly warm and photogenic. Guests who catch a photographer aiming a lens at their face usually turn away form the camera quickly so as not to be caught. It’s a common response, which is why we need to be stealthy! But when I captured the beaming face of Carole’s mother, I was presented with an even bigger smile. What a wonderful feeling! And as I continued to photographed guests, I found not one of them looked away, but were willing to share their joy and excitement as they viewed the loving couple recite their vows.
It was a beautiful way to tell Carole and Sid’s wedding story and I hope to photograph at this delightful church again in the future.
It happened on the holiday of October 31st. Sid and Carole were exchanging vows with friends and family from around the globe and hosting the best Halloween party Billy and I have ever attended. The energy resulting from a mix of Lebanese and Indian traditions was totally unexpected and I soaked in every minute because not only was I photographing beautiful, happy people, but I was having a blast running my bum around trying to capture all the moments that were unfolding before me. I felt like that crazy contestant in the money cage who just can’t grab the dollar bills fast enough!
When I arrived at Carole’s home, I was ecstatic to find her adorable pooch, Aziz, running to and fro. Dogs and brides? Was this my dream come true? It was quite a scene watching the Pomeranian step on the bride’s dress and hearing the bridesmaids’ shriek in potential horror, but the little pup just wanted to be close to Carole and luckily he didn’t dirty her dress. Carole was the epitome of a timeless, beautiful bride and I don’t think I ever caught her without a loving smile upon her face.
At last the time came for Carole to descend from the stairs upon her family and be showered with kisses, hugs and cries of joy. Every few minutes a new tray of bubbly and desserts were passed round the room and I wondered if people would even be hungry for dinner! After an hour of dancing and sheer excitement, we piled into the limo in anticipation of the events to come.
Over at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Rochester, Billy was working his mojo with Sid and his men. Sid being relaxed and cool as a cucumber, I had to laugh when I met Billy after exiting from the limo. I was panting and emotionally charged from the morning party when I tried to quickly recap the events of the previous few hours then ran to follow the action. I’d imagine Billy thought I had slipped a few glasses of wine with my blabbing.
It was the day to change our clocks, most guests were from out of town and of course there was a buzz from it being Halloween, but the ceremony started on time and was a lovely event, but of course you’ll need to see that in the posts to come!
