The Blog | Adventures and advice from an euphoric wedding photographer.

Passion, Love & Happiness. I'm on a journey to capture these emotions from people who radiate their inner beauty and joy into my lens. I photograph because I adore weddings, a spontaneous lifestyle and meeting amazing individuals who will change my life. I hope that next unique someone is you.

This just made my day!

Carole & Sid were so sweet to leave this lovely review on WeddingWire:

We cannot express enough how wonderful of a job Deanna has done with our wedding pictures. She was able to capture every moment and convey the overall feel of the wedding. Every picture she took is stunning! We are very happy with the pictures and we have received lots of compliments from everyone that saw them. Deanna is very talented, friendly, responsive, professional with great photography equipment. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We couldn’t have been happier with the pictures.”

Casa Larga Wedding Reception - Rochester Wedding Photography

Sid and Carole were such a joy to capture. This is by far my favorite image of the year and I have so many favorites that I’ve loved from each wedding. My growth in the past year has been astounding to me and yet I’ve struggled to identify my style. On the one hand, it’s a silly word that really doesn’t matter, but in the photography world, there’s a pressure to “find your style”. I used to describe my style as random, because it depends on the moment, the people, and my mood as to whether I create images that are works of art or express strong emotion, but when I viewed this image of Carole and Sid….it instantly defined my style, one that I strive for and hope to achieve in everything I do.

I adore this photo for it’s dramatic, black and white vintage mood, but I mostly love it because it wasn’t forced or contrived. I had pulled Sid and Carole out of their reception to capture a few images in front of the breathtaking sunset, but it was cold, really cold! As I was setting up my gear, Sid wrapped his arms around Carole to keep her warm and Carole was soaking in his embrace and the excitement of the moment. It was a beautiful moment and I simply captured it in way that told how profound the moment was.

I’ve been so lucky to work with amazing couples this year who have such radiant personalities and incredible chemistry in front of my camera. I could totally get sappy right now because I love you all, but I’ll end with a short and very meaningful phrase:

Thank you.

Old friends are the best to photograph

August 24, 2010

Here's another amazing review left for us on WeddingWire. Thanks so much Marianne!

I have known Deanna Wallace for a good number of years, so I felt bad springing a last minute booking on her. I enjoyed seeing her work while planning my wedding but had already asked someone else. My wedding was May 15, 2010 and my previous photographer canceled around January/February. I was living in Maryland at the time, Deanna in New York and the wedding in Ohio (the groom originally from Ohio). I asked myself, "where am I going to find a photographer now without having to travel all the way to Ohio?". Keep in mind that both my husband and I were in the middle of a job transfer to Hawai'i. So, I thought what does a phone call hurt, the worst she could say is no. But, she was enthusiastically willing to do it--travel and all!!!

We were able to do everything using that great invention technology, and even evolved our photo album into something more advanced a DVD!!! Dee recently wrote to me saying that she does the formal pictures and poses because that is a traditional part of any wedding. The pictures that arise from emotion and family stories, are why she is in the wedding. Not only will our energetic lady capture the moments that you think about, but she will also find those that you may have missed while greeting the new family. It may be difficult to rationalize the expenditure but think of it this way, by you spending the money you are guaranteed a quality product with friendly service that everyone will be able to enjoy.

Best of luck to all the brides that are reading my review. I know that you do not know me from a hill of beans but take my word that you will not be disappointed with your selection of Visually Deelicious as your photographer.

Marianne and I grew up attending high school together. We tooted our saxophones and played soccer, so I knew there would be a lot of laughter and good times while I photographed. I could post oodles of beautiful images of Marianne because she's ridiculously photogenic (I'm not kidding, this girl does not take a bad pic), but I thought I would highlight my favorite moment of the day.

While photographing her as she prepared for the ceremony, I asked a simple question with the lens to my face to capture her response. This wasn't what I was expecting but was even more perfect.

"So Marianne, are you excited you're getting married?!"

Ohio bride getting ready

Priceless.

(PS. I'm pretty sure this was her thinking face because she was trying to sum up her emotions into a words. She was soooooooooooo totally pumped to get married!)

Marianne: (08.26.10 - 1:32 am) You are correct, there were a lot of laughs that day. In fact, they continue on even after the event. I wish I could explain this but I do not even remember what I was thinking while producing this face. What a riot!!!

A Rockin’ Review from Blackrock Sound Solutions | Buffalo, NY

August 11, 2010

Take it from me, I’ve seen a lot of photographers do their thing in a variety of situations and Deanna Wallace of Visually Deelicious Photography tops them all. Is there a higher level description than ‘above and beyond’? If so, Deanna is it. Not only does she make sure her clients are as happy as can be, but she makes sure EVERYONE leaves with a smile. You’ll see that her spirit truly resonates through the lens. When I asked her why she does it, she replied, “I simply love taking pictures.”

I Think Mariah Likes Her Book ;)

March 29, 2010

Ooooo…another WeddingWire review! This one comes from Mariah, my spunky New Year’s bride:

Deanna is wonderful! I changed my wedding date by ....7 months and not only did I do it about two weeks before the new date - it was new years eve. And there she was happy to do be there. I show everyone my pictures and I have had two people book her already. (maybe I should get commission! =) jk) She also did my engagement pictures and my husband and I both have kids and we wanted to have them included yet still do pictures by ourselves. Then we ordered “The Book” .... I can not tell you how much it is worth doing that! Picture albums are really nice and all ... but nothing is as nice as this! It beautiful to leave out and take with you. I will be ordering the wedding book as soon as I have enough money saved. Yes the books are pricey… but you pay to have beautiful pictures taken and who knows how much on ONE day of your life… display it the way you cherish it! ok so anyways enough about the books. Deanna is amazing. Fun and fresh and really a joy to be around. If you want my opinion - you’d be crazy not to call her as soon as possible - dates won’t be open long!

Commission for referrals? Absolutely! I like to hook up any bride who spreads my name so look for an extra goody when you order your album. :-)

I thought I would share one of my favorite’s from Mariah’s day of her 2 minutes before the ceremony perfectly arranging her bouquet. This bouquet was special not only because it was beautiful and hand-made by herself, but included palm flowers her husband had brought back from one of this trips as a gift to her. It was so wonderful to see a bride incorporate something meaningful in her flowers and it was a romantic surprise to Jason as she walked down the aisle.

Talking about this photo with Mariah later, I was brokenhearted to hear that her bouquet had been swiped during her reception so these photos are even more precious and bring with them a great story to share.
