The Snow Is My Fire!

March 24, 2011

The snow was almost completely gone, except for a few small piles and it was starting to look like spring when Mother Nature dumped several inches of snow again yesterday and now everything is completely white. It wasn’t until the winter wonderland appeared again that I got an itching for gardening and fresh flowers. I’m really not a good gardener, but I love getting my hands and bare feet covered in dirt so I really appreciate that this weather upset has ignited my outdoor passion for the season! Because I’m feeling fresh and vibrant today, here’s a little floral beauty to inspire you!

A lotta love for my hair

February 28, 2011

I hadn’t enjoyed an up-do since my senior prom and it was time to look fabulous for my husband on Valentine’s Day so I pampered myself with a sexy style from the amazing Terri Stanton, my dear friend who is a killer hair stylist. I almost cried when I had to take it out for bed, but I mustered up the strength to capture a self-portrait at midnight to remember how beautiful I felt. I’m not sure why people complain about turning 30…I definitely feel more attractive now than I did at 18. At least I’m not wearing glitter bracelets and gaudy blue eyeshadow…oh my, what was I thinking?

The Beard

February 01, 2011

I was asked the other day if Billy and I were high school sweethearts. We started dating a month before graduation so I’m not sure if that constitutes as official school romance, but let’s just say we’ve been together for quite a long time. In that 12 year span, he’s never grown a beard. So when his stubble started to appear, I told him I found it kinda sexy! It only took this simple phrase (and an average outside temperature of 15°) to inspire him to grow “the beard”.

It’s been a couple weeks and I wasn’t prepared for the excitement it’s caused within our circle of family and friends. Over a beard! People I haven’t seen for ages approach me to ask about my husband’s facial hair and ponder on its mystical occurrence. He’s often not even recognized and I have to laugh! In fact today a friend didn’t even acknowledge my presence because he was stunned by Billy’s appearance. Oh the power of a beard!

So it was decided tonight that “the beard” needed to be documented for historical purposes of course. I’m sure our children will find this image in their history books and wonder if they are truly related to this odd fellow. Speaking of odd, why do I always envision Yogi Bear when we smooch? I must be craving pic-a-nic baskets!

Slow time? I don’t need no stinkin’ slow time!

January 11, 2011

I find it humorous to view my blog and see that my last post was in November. Looks like I’ve been sitting on my bum twiddling my thumbs! But the silence is actually a sign of a fabulous holiday and an exciting new year. I have so many backed up blog posts and images to share, but I’m not going to apologize and make excuses. In fact, this was exactly what I had envisioned and hoped for, for a silent blog means exciting things are brewing….

Oh the thoughts I want to share right now, but who wants to spoil all the upcoming fun? So I’ll start the year with the beautiful holiday card I created for Carmen. I adore receiving mail around the holidays and seeing the growth of children and families over the past year. It seems our family introduces a new pooch into our crazy mix of canines quite often so Carmen needed to brag about her little “Piper” as this year’s addition. Of course I had a wonderful time photographing the card on my husband’s new antique roll-top desk. This makes desk number #4 in our house, so of course it was a necessity…..but I was delighted to open the drawer and find he had hidden vintage photos of his Dad to keep close. His habit of holding on to the past often drives me nuts (who needs to save movie stubs?) but sometimes it brings a smile to my face.

It’s the first post of 2011 so I wish you an unbelievably amazing fantastic exciting wonderful fabulous happy ridiculously deelicious new year!

5 Reasons to Get a Pedicure

October 21, 2010

Last week I was delighted to venture out with my girlfriends Melissa and Terri for pedicures as a celebration for Melissa’s new baby girl, Mya, because mother’s need some pampering too! Melissa had never experienced the thrill of a pedicure and so I brought my camera of course to document the event. I had never experienced a pedicure myself until my wedding 2 years ago and what a shame! I thought I would share some thoughts on why this should be a routine requirement for adult women, maybe next in priority to brushing your teeth!

1. It’s a great excuse for a girls day. When’s the last time you went out with just the ladies? Luckily, the boys aren’t interested in this luxurious activity, though if your man is willing to get a pedicure, hide your sweet smelling lotions and soft pajamas. He might discover how amazing it is to be a woman then you’re doomed!

2. You deserve a massage. Whether you’re a bride, mother, student, hard-worker, or just a sweet wife, this time of year is crazy and you need your body to be de-stressed by soaking your feet in a warm bath and enjoying crystal salts lathered on your legs. Ok, you may want to shave for this one, but it’s worth it!

3. It’s time to laugh. So I have a confession, I enjoy my pedicures at Wal-Mart. The price is unbeatable, the nail technicians are so friendly and I love walking around the store in absurd looking flip-flops and webbed feet. Then they have these massage chairs which make you sound like Darth Vadar when you talk. I adore watching my friends faces while they’re enjoying that moment of bliss. We all look like we’re making love to the chairs. It’s amazing and ridiculously hilarious. Also comical is witnessing my friends trying to take a photo of me with my camera. It took two of them to operate and this is the result.

4. It’s a great time to catch up on gossip. We’re women and we love to talk. This is a beneficial trait to possess when toe drying is required for a long period of time!

5. Your toes will look so sexy! I’m not making this up, having great looking toes is such a confidence booster and puts you in a fabulous mood. Wake up feeling grumpy and tired? Look down at your feet, they’ll be smiling back ready to take on the world! Did I mention I love pedicures?
